Could one stubborn voice bring an entire village to its knees—or be crushed trying?

When a feared and revered pastor declares an ancient ugba tree the source of evil, no one dares question him. No one—except Chikara Okoroafor.

Young. Unyielding. Dangerous in his conviction.

Chikara knows the truth the village refuses to see: the tree they are about to destroy is all that stands between them and a worsening climate disaster. But in a place where belief is stronger than reason, truth becomes a threat.

And threats must be silenced.

What begins as a warning quickly spirals into accusation, isolation, and violence. The elders close ranks. The village turns hostile. Even his own blood begins to waver.

Still, Chikara refuses to bow.

Because if he is right, their survival depends on it.

And if he is wrong… he may not live long enough to regret it.
